I’m loving the new “V” though what I don’t understand is why they feel the need to undertake such a vast operation of sneak.  The are clearly the more dominant, more intelligent species with vastly superior technology, you’d think they’d just take us by force.

Eh.  Whatever.  I can suspend disbelief.

(Remind me to tell you sometime about the ex-boyfriend who quite literally and seriously drove me to a breakdown and a complete destruction of self convincing me I had alien implants—at one point actually going so far as to pull one from my neck?— and who believed David Icke to be a prophet of sorts, swearing he could see power columns spiraling up above certain buildings and who believed the V were real.   OH he and they could read my mind. And control it.  And all my friends and family were evil and hated me.  But that’s a story for another time)

Also, NCIS LA because who DOESN’T love LL Cool J (how freaking HUGE is that dude? For real, he is mad large, ok?)   Also, I hated Chris O’Donell until this show.  He always came across as a whiny, screechy dude. Now, a scruffy loner I kinda dig. BOO for typecasting!

Unpopular Opinion: I don't like Seinfeld.

I realize this is probably bordering on blasphemy for some people.

Oh god. Me EITHER. Though I don’t like most awesome things (Palahniuk, Tarantino, Ryan Adams etc.) so being a total uncool turd is way easy for me but seriously…WHAT IS UP WITH THAT SHOW?!  I just don’t get it.  I just don’t.

Who’s hungover and watching Pocoyo on Netflix?  Thaaaaat’s right. This girl.

I know that when I confess this...

I’ll be banned for life from the cool club.  I know.  I also know that on account of my hatred of both Palahniuk and Tarantino that I rescinded my card, (with prejudice) for at least 10 years, but this admission, I believe will deem me “exiled from cooltown” forever: I Don’t Like Conan O’Brien.

I don’t think he’s funny.  I find his delivery forced and stiff and awkward and entirely off-putting.  I know.  I know.  It’s part of the shtick.

But, no.  It doesn’t help.  I find his show neither witty nor clever, funny or controversial, and goddammit you mostly have to be or at least occasionally be 2 of the 4.

Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.
I finally got a chance to restart my Granada!Holmes-on-Thursdays tradition, and with ‘The Empty House’ no less.1) Hardwicke, I love you so much. 2) Oh, Brett, so amazing, I don’t even know where to start. 3) COLIN JEAVONS YOU ARE ADORBS. 3) God, Brett and Hardwicke have such terrific chemistry. During that scene near the beginning—when Holmes reveals himself—I was grinning like an idiot, ngl. The look in Hardwicke’s eyes…!

defying gravity.

Hey, look, a fun, fantastical network tv show about space exploration that doesn’t involve ships made of tinker toys and sheet metal rusting apart during flight. *cough* Enterprise *cough*.

Thoughtful and believable charaterizations of actual life in space.  Compelling and interesting plotlines.  Unique.  Give it a go.  9 pm Mountain Sunday. ABC.  Annddd…..click!

This is a really shitty episode of Star Trek: TNG.
Darmok and Galad at Tanagra.
This was a kickass episode muffin.
Timba his arms wide?
(PS: This here, this is geekdom.  See how it isn’t at all sexy or about wearing glasses and reading about css or liking science?  See how actually, truly geeky this is, and how it makes me impossible to communicate with?)

Et tu?
I have a host of problems with this episode, really, but #1 is why Picard is so stupid in it. The “Oh! You speak in metaphors!” moment comes about 3/4 of the way in. It’s also a gung-ho cultural relativism episode, which there are far too many of.

You think he was stupid?  Really?  I think a metaphorical language would be tough to discern especially if you lacked the cultural context for it.  Then again, maybe the good doctor hadn’t visited his private quarters in a while. (No, I can’t believe I just made that joke either)
And yeah,  the cultural relativism was stretched pretty thin, thematically, but I suppose it would be given what they do for a living is pretty much exclusively cultural senstivity in space 101.  I mean, I think it works…besides it was really all about teaching us about us so it doesn’t surprise me that the metaphors (heh) got pretty ham fisted occasionally but we tend to be pretty hard headed.  Like…’Oh weird, those aliens are totally stupid and ignorant, how silly…look over there, monsters…YAY!
Darmok and Jalad, Muffin, they left…together.
